Behavioral Sleep Medicine Services

At Sleepwatchers PLLC, we offer a variety of effective sleep treatments, including:

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

This form of treatment is used for a variety of sleep disorders. The behavioral aspect of CBT for sleep disorders focuses on eliminating habits, behaviors and environmental disruptions that stand in the way of quality rest. Our focus is on systematically introducing behavioral changes that have been proven to improve sleep. This could include changes in sleep schedule and reinforcers that promote sleep. The cognitive approach focuses on looking internally to examine, manage, or modify sleep interfering thoughts and beliefs that can interfere with sleep. Most CBT therapies for sleep disorders are brief, involving an evaluation and a limited number of treatment visits.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi):

Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the gold standard treatment as recommended by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and American College of Physicians. In fact, both the AASM and ACP recommend CBT-I before sleep medication. CBT-i begins with identifying the problem during an evaluation with one of our behavioral sleep medicine specialists. For most patients, recommendations include 3-5 treatment sessions in which you will learn research-based strategies that help you control thoughts, behaviors and emotions to improve your sleep. Historically, 70-80% of insomnia patients show significant improvement in their sleep utilizing these recommendations.

Sleep Medication Tapering:

Already taking a sleeping pill? Let our trained sleep experts teach you how and when to taper your medication. When done in conjunction with other recommendations, we can help you sleep and feel better! (Without the side effects…)

Light Therapy:

For those suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or other circadian rhythm disorders, Sleepwatchers offers light therapy. You can order a lightbox from us or another source, and our trained behavioral sleep therapists can teach you how to use it!

Through mask fittings, machine adjustments, and behavioral techniques, our sleep experts can help adjust therapy to make it more comfortable for you! On the other hand, there are other options. If you would like to find alternative to CPAP, we can do that, too!
